Gerry McGovern will be joining us in the bookshop for the Mayo launch of “99th Day: A Warning About Technology” during his island-wide book launch ,
hosting Community conversations about our children’s future. Joining Gerry on the night is the wonderfully talent musician, Áine Tyrrell, a thought provoking multi-instrumentalist song-writer. Her music cradles the spirit of her native homeland with powerful, meaningful lyrics.
A discussion will invite the community to consider how to live with less technology and more locally, how to deal with environmental and civilisational collapse and return to indigenous Irish culture. What will we leave those who come after us? Collapse is coming, driven by AI, data centres, mining, toxic waste. How much good soil, air and water will we leave as our legacies? We must resist Growth Death Cult.
“’99th Day’ is essential reading for anyone who cares about our planet. Prepare to be disturbed, enlightened and inspired.” – Justine McCarthy, The Irish Times.
We’re looking forward to a lively discussion on all of the topics.
Everyone is welcome to this talk. Free event.
